Heritage and Growth

G’s story is one of entrepreneurial vision, continuous investment and long-term thinking.

In 1952, Guy Shropshire purchased 330 acres of land near Ely, Cambridgeshire, initially supplying celery to local wholesalers. Recognising the opportunity to add value, he invested in a purpose-built packhouse, laying the foundations for what would become G’s.

A defining moment came in 1985, when the business expanded into Spain to meet increasing retailer demand for year-round fresh produce. This move established G’s as a pioneer in seasonal supply chain innovation.

Today, the business stands as one of Europe’s largest fresh produce companies, with operations spanning multiple continents and a reputation for quality, reliability and expertise.
